Jennifer Lopez's Villa in Beverly Hills
While I'm inspecting the art of Venice, I suggest a stroll through the Drake House in Toronto.
In the spring of 2023, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finally bought themselves a nice family home. Prior to that, the couple had viewed 80 properties and walked away from three deals that had already been agreed upon by all parties.
They ultimately chose a massive estate on Wallingford Drive in Beverly Hills. They paid $60 million for the villa.
The house was meant to symbolize the second phase of Ben and Jennifer's relationship. Fans dubbed it "Bennifer 2.0." The estate is located on top of a hill on a 2.1-hectare lot. The house itself is 3,500 m².
It has 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms. From the outside, the villa looks like a European country house scaled up several times over. It features a symmetrical white facade, a dark roof, French balconies, and a huge front courtyard.
The interiors blend American luxury with the elegance of a high-end European hotel. White walls are adorned with intricate moldings, ceilings soar several stories high, and a giant glass skylight spans the central hall. Dark wood, antique rugs, crystal chandeliers, marble fireplaces, leather armchairs, and vibrant contemporary art lend a sense of coziness to the vast spaces.
The master bedroom is more like a separate residence. It features a four-poster bed, a sofa set in front of the fireplace, and massive chests instead of benches. The dining room’s main feature is a dark green ceiling with intricate stucco molding. There is a library, several living rooms, a bar, a movie theater, and an elevator.
Part of the estate has been converted into a sports club. Inside, there is a basketball court, a fully equipped gym, and a boxing ring. The courtyard features a panoramic pool, a hot tub, several terraces, open-fire areas, and mature trees that shield the property from the neighbors.
Before Jennifer bought the house, the previous owner tried to sell it for $135 million. He then lowered the price to $100 million. In the end, she bought it for $60 million. The price had fallen by half in two years. After the purchase, the couple invested $2 million in renovations.
But the couple didn’t live there for very long. In 2024, amid rumors of a breakup, the villa was listed for $68 million. No buyers came forward. The price was gradually lowered to $60 million, then to $52 million, and finally to $50 million. The villa is still on the market.
After the divorce, Ben Affleck transferred his share to Jennifer Lopez, and she is now the sole owner of the villa. It turned out to be a classic Hollywood story. The villa was bought as the setting for a new family life, but the relationship ended before the renovations were finished.
