The Sculptural Facade of “27 Savvinskaya”
One of my goals is to shoot all the iconic projects and locations in the cities where Whitewill sells real estate. Through photo stories, I try to capture the atmosphere and architectural details of these locations to help our clients find the right place to live or invest.
While “Badaevsky” holds a clear lead in terms of the number of discussions about its architecture, I would rank “27 Savvinskaya” by “Level Group” in second place.
I saw a bunch of posts from real estate agents and bloggers who were discussing this building in a critical tone. The facade came under particular fire. That’s why I was curious to visit and take some proper photos of it.
The architecture is truly unusual, featuring dozens of protruding bay windows and balconies with bionic shapes. The concept was developed by the New York-based firm ODA. APEX handled the adaptation.
Architects refer to these elements as “petals” or “cups,” which evoke the waters of the Moskva River outside the window. But I’ve heard a theory that they are inverted silhouettes of the domes of the neighboring Novodevichy Convent.
Great location. Right on the Moscow River in Khamovniki. Just around the corner is the Novodevichy Convent and its park. Just a couple of minutes to Luzhniki.
The building has six floors, 51 apartments, and 8 penthouses. All units have windows facing the water. Bay windows literally extend the apartments closer to the water and provide interesting vantage points.
The interior is designed in the style of a city hotel. For residents, there is a library with a fireplace, a business lounge with meeting rooms, a winter garden, a small private courtyard, a children’s playroom, two restaurants, a beauty salon, a gym, yoga and Pilates classes, a spa, and a 25-meter pool. Plus, a concierge service and underground parking.
The rooftop features a private terrace with a view, complete with lounge chairs and relaxation areas. Interestingly, a wall from the former “Borets” factory has been preserved near the building, featuring a portrait of writer Hermann Hesse by Portuguese street artist Alexandre Fartu.
The developer is currently finishing up the lobby and infrastructure, and residents have already received their keys.
There are 10 apartments left for sale. Prices start at ₽2.5 million per square meter. Penthouses are around ₽6 million. That’s quite a price.
I took some of the photos in the setting sun, when the white concrete domes begin to turn pink from the warm light and then take on a honey-colored hue. The facade takes on a warm, apricot-gold hue, as if it were being heated from within.
